Meet the Trainer
Hi, I'm Meg, owner and lead trainer at Pet au Pairs.
Working with and studying animals has always been a deep passion of mine. As a young girl I raised and trained both sheep and pigs through the local 4-H program and spent countless hours playing and hiking with our family dogs. I have always found that there is so much to learn from our animal companions, and the support they can provide to us is awe inspiring. I moved to Crested Butte in 2007 and adopted my first dog as an adult almost right away. I didn't know it at the time, but I intuitively used common dog training techniques with him without having done any dog training research, I just did what seemed to make sense. I began a long and still active relationship with my first dog sitting client in 2010 and they remained my sole client until 2016 when I established a professional pet sitting company, Pet au Pairs. I know how important pets are to their people and I wanted to provide an option for people who have to leave their pets behind that they could feel warm and fuzzy about. After two years of operating Pet au Pairs I realized that I wanted to offer more, I wanted to provide a deeper level of care that would foster growth and stability in the owner/dog relationship. My experience with animals as a child, my time spent caring for many client's pets, and my natural intuition coupled with professional study as a dog trainer has brought me to where I am today. I have trained with world renowned trainers such as Jeff Gellman and Sean O'Shea and I am constantly studying independently to further my knowledge. It is my mission to help clients better understand their dogs; to provide a knowledge base that will allow owner and pet to work together in the most effective way possible. Everyone wants to experience a highly fulfilled life with their dog - to have peace of mind, feel empowered, and to have a dog who is also in a solid, confident, relaxed state of mind. My aim is to help you achieve exactly that. |
